McCurdy (Espanola, N.M.) received a huge boost from its defense against Santa Fe Indian (Santa Fe, N.M.), as the unit scored 14 in defeating Santa Fe Indian (Santa Fe, N.M.), 50-0.
After taking the lead on a touchdown run by
Chris Serrano in the first quarter, the Bobcats were up 42-0 at the half.
McCurdy expanded its lead to 50 points entering the fourth quarter. MHS scored two times in the third, including once on a Serrano touchdown run.
The Espanola school put up 26 points in the first quarter en route to the win. The Bobcats scored on a touchdown run by Serrano, a Serrano touchdown run, a defensive touchdown and a Serrano touchdown pass to
Ricky Wisecarver in the quarter.
McCurdy also won the meeting between the two teams last season, 26-0.
With the win MHS extended its winning streak to three games.
In a non-conference game next week Santa Fe Indian (1-2) takes on Espanola Valley, and McCurdy (3-0) will go up against Fort Sumner/House also in a non-conference game.
