Meanwhile, Lightridge strolled into their game on Thursday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They put the hurt on Briar Woods with a sharp 11-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Bolts, who have now won six games by six runs or more so far this season.
Like Battlefield, Lightridge also got a great game from a two-way player: Peyton Robinson. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. Robinson was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Maya Thaivalappil, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one triple. Alexa Knapp was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.
Lightridge's victory was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-0. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Battlefield, their record now sits at 10-5.
Friday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Battlefield hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .353. However, it's not like Lightridge struggles in that department as they've averaged .333. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
