Fitchburg had to kick off their season with an away game, and unfortunately wound up with a long bus ride home. They lost to St. Bernard's Central Catholic by a decisive 18-36 margin. Fitchburg were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as St. Bernard's Central Catholic apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat from the last time the teams met up. This was the first contest for both squads, starting Fitchburg off on the wrong foot at 0-1, while giving St. Bernard's Central Catholic a 1-0 record.
Fitchburg will be staying on the road next week, facing off against Shepherd Hill Regional. St. Bernard's Central Catholic will stay at home against Montachusett RVT at 7:00 PM.
