The Pomona Panthers suffered their biggest loss since December 9, 2023 on Friday. They suffered a rough 50-26 defeat at the hands of Bear Creek. Pomona has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the loss, Pomona still got an impressive performance from Kendra Ritzmann, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds. That was a full 50% of Pomona's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Pomona struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Bear Creek racked up 12 assists.
Leading Bear Creek to victory were Rachel Vasey and Olivia Kan. Vasey scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and three steals, while Kan scored 18 points along with three steals and two blocks. Kan has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Freund, who scored three points along with four steals.
Pomona's loss dropped their record down to 8-7. As for Bear Creek, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 8-6 record this season.
Pomona will be playing at home against Green Mountain at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Bear Creek, they will head out on the road to challenge D'Evelyn at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as D'Evelyn comes in on six and Bear Creek on three.
