The Bay Springs Bulldogs will head out on the road to face off against the Jefferson Davis County Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Bay Springs comes in on eight and Jefferson Davis County on five.
Bay Springs put the finishing touches on their sixth blowout victory of the season on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Lake 34-6 at home. Bay Springs pushed the score to 34-0 by the end of the third, a deficit Lake cut but never quite recovered from.
Espen Campbell continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 182 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.7 yards per carry. Bay Springs also got a significant boost from Jd Page, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 81 yards.
Meanwhile, Jefferson Davis County didn't have too much trouble with Magee at home on Friday as they won 43-29. Given Jefferson Davis County's advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi football rankings (they are ranked 29th, while Magee is ranked 171st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Bay Springs' victory was their eighth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 8-1. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-9 Newton and 0-8 Choctaw Central (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 36.4% over those games). As for Jefferson Davis County, their victory bumped their record up to 8-1.
