SCISA AAA recap October 8, 2013
Jay Goodson of Wilson Hall ran for the longest rushing play in SCISA AAA this season against Orangeburg Prep last week. Goodson's team topped the Indians as he sprinted for 85 yards on the play and finished with 188 in all.
Wilson Hall extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Orangeburg Prep, 27-20. The win marks sixth in a row for the Bruce Lane's team.
Steven Duncan threw for 234 yards and 2 touchdowns. He went 22-36 with 1 interception.
Robert Barrow was a passing and rushing force as Ben Lippen defeated Pinewood Prep. He completed 15 passes for 275 yards and 1 touchdown and also ran for 11 yards. Barrow's key target this week was Wil Carter, who caught 5 passes for 143 yards.
Goodson was the most successful running back in the league this week. In 10 carries, he ran for 188 yards as the Barons topped the Panthers. William Kinney also contributed to the rushing game with 67 yards on the ground.
Porter-Gaud's Duncan and Foster Moe led SCISA AAA in both passing and receiving yards. 6-5 quarterback Duncan has thrown for 1,800 yards this season, while Moe has 54 catches for 941 yards. Adam Holmes' team's Michael Pascoe leads the league in rushing yards with 714.
The Cyclones' Duncan is within 200 passing yards of surpassing 2,000 on the season coming into this week's game against Augusta Christian.
Porter-Gaud's Moe needs only 59 receiving yards against the Lions to crack 1,000 for the season. So far this year, he has acheived 54 catches for 941 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Wilson Hall takes on Cardinal Newman. As it stands, the Barons are in first, while the Cardinals are in fourth.
Ben Lippen was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from ninth to sixth in the league. Earlier in the week, Jolly Dolittle's team triumphed over Pinewood Prep 21-14.
