After flying high against the Hammond Skyhawks last Saturday, the Concord Academy Eagles came back down to earth. Concord Academy fell to Forsyth Country Day 73-69. Despite running the score up even higher than they did last Saturday (64), Concord Academy still had to take the loss.
Concord Academy lost on Friday despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jake Benham, who scored 15 points. The match was Benham's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sean Birmingham, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds.
Concord Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 8-6. As for Forsyth Country Day, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-2.
Concord Academy will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Carmel Christian at 7:00 p.m. on December 16th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in North Carolina (Carmel Christian is ranked 74th, while Concord Academy is ranked 62nd). Forsyth Country Day won't have much time to rest: their next match is against The Burlington School at 5:30 p.m. on December 16th. The Burlington School has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 1,008 points over their last 14 contests.
