On Saturday, The Notre Dame-Green Pond Crusaders never let their opponents score. They breezed by Wilson Area on the road to the tune of 49-0. Given Notre Dame-Green Pond's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked 120th, while Wilson Area is ranked 490th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Danny Darno, who rushed for 46 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 167 yards and two touchdowns while completing 71.4% of his passes. AJ Lozano also deserves a mention for his punt return touchdown.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Wilson Area to a paltry 100 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Notre Dame-Green Pond's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out five times before it was all said and done. The heavy lifting was done by Brett Bruckman and John paul Pierce who racked up four sacks between them.
The win was the fourth in a row for Notre Dame-Green Pond, bringing their record for this year to 8-3. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.5 points per game. As for Wilson Area, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-10.
Notre Dame-Green Pond will be playing in front of their home fans against Saucon Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Saucon Valley is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. Wilson Area does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
