Basketball Recap: Capistrano Valley Christian Picks Up 13th Consecutive Win

Capistrano Valley Christian came tearing into Thursday's match with 12 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 35.7 points) and they left with even more momentum. They claimed a resounding 80-43 victory over The Webb Schools Gauls. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 contests by 21 points or more this season.

Capistrano Valley Christian got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Michael Ahern out in front who almost dropped a double-double on 28 points and nine boards. Ahern's evening made it 13 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Shaunt Kechejian, who went 9 for 14 en route to 23 points.

Capistrano Valley Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in seven consecutive games.

The Webb Schools' defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jimmie Brown III, who posted ten points and six rebounds. Ethan Hao was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Capistrano Valley Christian pushed their record up to 22-4 with the victory, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season. As for The Webb Schools, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-8.

Capistrano Valley Christian will take on Tarbut V' Torah at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Capistrano Valley Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 13 matches -- so hopefully Tarbut V' Torah likes a good challenge.
