They took their game on the road on Friday with ease, bagging a 64-18 win over Rocky Mount Prep. That 64-18 margin sets a new team best for Northwest Halifax this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Northwest Halifax to victory, but perhaps none more so than Camaya Adkins, who scored 24 points. The contest was Adkins' eighth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Taniya High, who scored 16 points.
Despite the defeat, Rocky Mount Prep saw an underclassman step up: Sumaya Lancaster scored eight points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Lancaster has scored all season.
The victory makes it two in a row for Northwest Halifax and bumps their season record up to 9-1. As for Rocky Mount Prep, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Northwest Halifax will take on North Edgecombe at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in North Carolina (North Edgecombe is ranked 238th, while Northwest Halifax is ranked 221st). As for Rocky Mount Prep, they will be playing in front of their home fans against KIPP P at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. KIPP P comes in on a streak of failing to score more than seven points in their last three games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
