Kelseyville had lost four straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 6-11 to make it five. They came up short against the Cloverdale Eagles, falling 16-7. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Kelseyville saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Morgan Rodgers, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
As for Cloverdale, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 18-2. Considering they have won ten games by more than eight runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
On Cloverdale's side, Camryn Bird made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Bird has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in nine consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, earning one RBI, two runs, and two stolen bases.
In other pitching news, Charlotte Burchett looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, Cloverdale got a massive performance out of Ronni Hatcher, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Those three stolen bases gave Hatcher a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Bella Sanchez, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.
Kelseyville has already played their next match, a 10-8 victory against Fort Bragg on the 13th. As for Cloverdale, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, an 18-0 win against Lower Lake on the 13th.
