Exeter Township's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. Everything went their way against Pottstown as they made off with a 12-0 victory. The matchup marked the Eagles' most dominant win of the season.
Exeter Township let Liam Porter and Jake Hafer run wild. Porter went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Hafer went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those two RBI gave Porter a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Goodhart, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Exeter Township hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pottstown struck out 11 times.
Meanwhile, Wilson had just enough and edged out Central Dauphin 1-0 on Saturday. The one-run effort marked the Bulldogs' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.
Wilson's victory was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Jack Gabel, who went 2-for-3 with one double. Matt Mallis also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Exeter Township's record now sits at 10-3. As for Wilson, their record is now 11-3.
Monday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Exeter Township has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .439. However, it's not like Wilson struggles in that department as they've averaged .485. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Exeter Township might still be hurting after the 14-5 loss they got from Wilson in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
