Lewisburg had lost six straight on the road, but on Saturday they dropped their record down to 3-9-1 to make it seven. They came up short against the Warrior Run Defenders, falling 10-3. Unfortunately, that's the first time they've come up short against the Defenders this season, with their most recent defeat being a 10-3 loss on Saturday.
Cohen Hoover made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. That double was his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Landen Wagner, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
As for Warrior Run, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 13-1. Considering they have won eight matches by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
On Warrior Run's side, Cohen Zechman and Landon Tillson were major factors no matter where they played. On the mound, Zechman struck out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. Meanwhile, Tillson tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the most strikeouts Zechman has posted since back in March. At the plate, Zechman went 2-for-5 with one triple, one run, and one RBI, while Tillson went 4-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Tillson has been hot recently, having posted three or more hits the last three times he's played.
In other batting news, Griffen Harrington was incredible, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Stone Allison was another key player, going 2-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Coming up, Warrior Run will square off against Montgomery at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Lewisburg will be paying especially close attention to the Defenders' game: after the Defenders face off against Shamokin Area, they'll take on Lewisburg again at 3:30 p.m.
