Baseball Recap: Olive Branch's Luck Changes for the Better on Tuesday

Olive Branch had to endure a seven-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They blew past Lake Cormorant 8-2 on Tuesday. Considering the Conquistadors have won eight games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Dillon Anderson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on six hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Olive Branch let Marcus Jamison and Sam Resch run wild. Jamison scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-3, while Resch scored a run and stole three bases while going 2-for-4. That's the most hits Resch has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Darnell Harris Jr., who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Olive Branch's win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-8 and their overall record up to 11-12. As for Lake Cormorant, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-13.

Olive Branch will have a chance to go back-to-back against Lake Cormorant: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
