After two weeks on the road, Pender is heading back home. On Friday they take on Emerson-Hubbard at 7:00 PM. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, Pender and Emerson-Hubbard will really light up the scoreboard.
It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Pender ultimately got the result it was hoping for last Friday. They got past Mead with less than a touchdown to spare, ending up at 48-42. Pender's success was spearheaded by the efforts of sophomore Dylan Vogt, who rushed for 178 yards and 2 touchdowns, and senior Jaydon Jump, who rushed for 140 yards and 2 touchdowns. Jump has now scored at least one touchdown in the past three games.
Meanwhile, Emerson-Hubbard took the matchup and then some with a 60-8 victory over Omaha Christian Academy. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 53-0.
Their wins bumped Pender to 3-3 and Emerson-Hubbard to 4-2. In their win, Emerson-Hubbard relied heavily on junior Nolan Belt, who rushed for 102 yards and 4 touchdowns. Pender will need to find a way to minimize his impact if they want to win.
