The Des Moines North Polar Bears lost a heartbreaker to the Dowling Catholic Maroons when they met earlier this month, and they left with a heavy heart again on Tuesday. Des Moines was just a bucket short of a victory and fell 84-83 to Dowling Catholic.
The loss dropped the Polar Bears' record to 12-8. The win was the fourth in a row for Dowling Catholic and raised their record to 16-6.
The Polar Bears will be hunkering down at home again for their matchup against Lincoln Friday. Des Moines is expected to win -- but not by much -- so they will need to come into the contest prepared for a fight. Dowling Catholic is staying on the road Friday to face off against Ames. The Maroons won't have the home-court advantage, but they do enjoy an advantage in the MaxPreps rankings.
