The Stanton Blue Devils scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They really took it to West Nassau for the full four quarters, racking up a 68-38 victory at home. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as Stanton just coasted through the last quarter.
Stanton's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Katharine Banerjea, who scored 13 points along with seven steals and five rebounds. It was the first time this season that Banerjea grabbed two or more steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabrielle Fajardo, who scored 21 points along with two steals.
West Nassau's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Abagail Bailey, who scored 14 points. Tru Armstrong was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Stanton pushed their record up to 9-10 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.7 points per game. As for West Nassau, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-17.
Stanton's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Riverside at 6:00 p.m. on February 2nd. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Florida (Stanton is ranked 359th, while Riverside is ranked 357th). As for West Nassau, they and Fernandina Beach will face off at 7:00 p.m. on February 5th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
