The Socorro Bulldogs lost against the Montwood Rams back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Socorro took a 51-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of Montwood. While losing is never fun, Socorro can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 768th, while Montwood is ranked 346th).
Kris Fang and Sebastian Allen certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Fang scored nine points, while Allen scored 15 points along with two steals. That's the first time this season that Allen scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Danny Delgado, who scored ten points.
Socorro's loss was their sixth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 8-9. As for Montwood, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-9 record this season.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing Franklin the next time they take the court. Socorro will head out to face Franklin at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while Montwood will host them at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
