The Ubly Bearcats will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against the Kingston Cardinals at 7:30 p.m.
After a string of three wins, Ubly's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. Their tough 56-35 loss to Harbor Beach might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Ubly can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 461st, while the Pirates are ranked 190th).
Meanwhile, Kingston put the finishing touches on their seventh blowout victory of the season on Friday. They took their contest at home with ease, bagging a 63-29 win over Carsonville-Port Sanilac. The win was nothing new for Kingston as they're now sitting on six straight.
Kingston had a senior duo take command as Kaden Bruce dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds and Owen Corlis scored 20 points along with seven rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Bruce has scored all season. Peyton Harrington was another key contributor, scoring five points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Ubly's loss dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Kingston, they pushed their record up to 10-5 with that victory, which was their sixth straight at home.
Ubly was able to grind out a solid win over the Cardinals in their previous meeting back in March of 2022, winning 52-43. Will Ubly repeat their success, or do the Cardinals have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
