Softball Game Preview: Ashwaubenon Jaguars vs. Green Bay Preble Hornets

The Ashwaubenon Jaguars will take on the Green Bay Preble Hornets at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Green Bay Preble will challenge a team with plenty of momentum: Ashwaubenon extended their winning streak to four on Saturday. The Jaguars' pitcher stepped up to hand Green Bay Southwest a 20-0 shutout.

Berritt Herr was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Ashwaubenon got a massive performance out of Elly Kirst, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most runs Kirst has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Jocelyn Wirth, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles.

Ashwaubenon always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .629. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in six consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Green Bay Preble strolled into their game on Saturday with a perfect record and they left with the same. Everything went their way against Sheboygan North as they made off with a 12-0 victory.

Green Bay Preble pushed their record up to 23-0 with the win, which was their tenth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.9 runs over those games. As for Ashwaubenon, their win bumped their record up to 20-4.
