Providence Classical were the 61-26 winner over the NorthPoint Christian Academy NightHawks when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. Providence Classical took a 46-34 hit to the loss column at the hands of NorthPoint Christian Academy on Tuesday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Providence Classical came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 239th in South Carolina, while NorthPoint Christian Academy is ranked 522nd in North Carolina).
Providence Classical lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Xan Rahalawicz , who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and five steals. The match was Rahalawicz 's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Bryson Lahr was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 15 rebounds.
NorthPoint Christian Academy found their leader in underclassman Jayson Simmons, who scored 12 points.
This is the second loss in a row for Providence Classical and nudges their season record down to 9-3. As for NorthPoint Christian Academy, the win got them back to even at 3-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Providence Classical and Liberty Preparatory Christian will face off at 6:30 p.m. on December 15th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. NorthPoint Christian Academy will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Fletcher at 6:00 p.m. on January 4, 2024.
