Joshua Miller and Tanner Wineland provided fans with a highlight when they connected against KIPP Denver Collegiate. The connection went for 80 yards, the longest such play in 2A Colorado this season.
Manual's Darnell Smith rumbled for the longest rushing play in the league this season in his game against Bishop Machebeuf last week. Smith ran for 69 yards on the play and finished with 80 on the day as his team lost to the Buffaloes.
Joey Matarazzo threw for 145 yards and three touchdowns. He was seven-13 with one interceptions.
Wineland was the best wideout in the league this week as Bennett topped KIPP Denver Collegiate. Wineland racked up one reception for 80 yards. Dalton Veal helped Bennett's passing attack out by catching one ball for seven yards.
Jacob Brown made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Tigers bested Jeff Alexander's team. The strong safety grabbed one interception.
Brandon Martinez was the most productive running back in 2A Colorado this week. He ran for 190 yards on 30 carries as Denver West defeated KIPP Denver Collegiate. Teammate Damien Nielsen added to the ground attack by rushing for 11 yards.
Rick Jacoby's team's Miller and Wineland have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Miller has thrown for 428 yards this season, while Wineland has five catches for 205 yards. Kent Denver's Jaden Franklin leads the league in rushing yards with 791.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Sun Devils take on Ridgeview Academy. Kent Denver is currently in first, while the Rams are in third.
Scott Yates's team extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Middle Park, 27-6. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.
