Football Recap: Key West Piles Up the Points Against Jackson

Key West won the last time they faced Jackson and things went their way on Friday too. The Conchs blew past the Generals 54-6. The game marked the Conchs' most dominant victory of the season.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Jeff Dejean and Walson Morin. Dejean rushed for 93 yards and three scores on only five carries while Morin gained 121 total yards and two touchdowns. Those three rushing touchdowns gave Dejean a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Leandro Batista, who rushed for 55 yards and one TD.

Key West's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-3. Those home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 35.6 points over those games. As for Jackson, they are on a 12-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Key West will face off against University Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. That contest will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Morin and Donovan Moss. As for Jackson, they will square off against Mater Academy Charter at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Lions' defense has only allowed 9.7 points per game this season, so the Generals' offense will have their work cut out for them.
