The Millburn Millers scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Orange 77-75. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Millburn's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Zach Benmorits led the charge by scoring 28 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Benmorits has scored at least a third of Millburn's points. Chase Plotkin was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with seven rebounds and five assists.
Millburn pushed their record up to 10-2 with that win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.8 points per game. As for Orange, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Millburn won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Verona at 4:00 p.m. on January 18th. Verona will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New Jersey Rankings (they are ranked 284th, while Millburn is ranked 43rd). Orange won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Montclair at 5:30 p.m. on January 18th. Montclair has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
