Two dominant guards in Jade Leon and Stephanie Vega are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Palmer Trinity Falcons will head out on the road to challenge the Doral Academy Firebirds at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Palmer Trinity will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 103rd, while Doral Academy is ranked 22nd).
Somerset Academy South Homestead typically has all the answers at home, but on Tuesday Palmer Trinity proved too difficult a challenge. They snuck past the Hurricanes with a 46-42 victory. The win was some much needed relief for Palmer Trinity as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Meanwhile, Doral Academy stacked an 11th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat St. Brendan 96-31 at home. Doral Academy's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Palmer Trinity now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Doral Academy, their win bumped their record up to 15-6.
Palmer Trinity took their win against Doral Academy in their previous meeting back in January of 2023 by a conclusive 60-37. The rematch might be a little tougher for Palmer Trinity since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
