The Northwestern Trojans lost against the Indian Land Warriors back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Northwestern was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 49-48 to Indian Land. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Northwestern in their matchups with Indian Land: they've now lost three in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Northwestern lost, one person who can't be blamed is Mason Mitchell. Despite the final result, he scored 17 points along with nine rebounds and two blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaylan Moore, who scored 12 points along with two steals.
Indian Land's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Sincere Rasul led the charge by scoring 15 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Rasul hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Sequel Patterson, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Northwestern bumped their record down to 9-9 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Indian Land, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season.
Northwestern will head out on the road to take on York at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. York is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak. As for Indian Land, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against South Pointe at 7:45 p.m. South Pointe will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps South Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 115th, while Indian Land is ranked 18th).
