It was a good run, but the Wilcox Academy Wildcats unfortunately witnessed the end of their 11-game winning streak on Thursday. They lost to Escambia Academy at home by a decisive 47-33 margin. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Wilcox Academy has scored all season.
Escambia Academy had a senior duo take command as Charlie Sasser scored 20 points and Quinton Odom scored 19 points. Sasser continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Rontae Watson, who scored eight points.
Wilcox Academy's defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-1. As for Escambia Academy, their win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-2.
Wilcox Academy will challenge Morgan Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Morgan Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight last Monday. As for Escambia Academy, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Meadowview Christian at 4:00 p.m. Meadowview Christian comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
