The Springdale Dynamos will head out to square off against the Riverview Raiders at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Springdale has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with four straight losses, while Riverview will come in with three straight wins.
Bishop Canevin hit Springdale with a six-run fifth inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Dynamos came up short against the Crusaders, falling 11-1.
Springdale saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alex Wylly, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, Riverview's rock-solid pitcher showed up for the team's third consecutive shutout on Thursday. They never let Brentwood get on the board and left with an 11-0 victory. The Raiders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 games by seven runs or more this season.
Johnny Bertucci was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Bertucci was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Eli DeVita was incredible, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Carter Loughren also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Riverview was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .476. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Riverview's record is now 12-2. As for Springdale, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-5.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Springdale has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.1 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Riverview struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Springdale suffered a grim 10-1 defeat to Riverview in their previous matchup back in May of 2022. Can the Dynamos avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
