The Mt. Morris Panthers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. The match between Mt. Morris and Durand wasn't particularly close, with Mt. Morris falling 78-61. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Mt. Morris in their matchups with Durand: they've now lost three in a row.
Markell Tate was his usual excellent self, scoring 23 points along with five steals for Durand. Those 23 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Levi Smith, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Mt. Morris' defeat dropped their record down to 8-5. As for Durand, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.
Mt. Morris will head out on the road to face off against Carrollton at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Durand, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Fowlerville at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
