The Wayne Valley Indians's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They fell just short of West Morris Mendham by a score of 43-40. Wayne Valley lost against West Morris Mendham in their previous head to head back in December of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 50-41 score last time.
Several Indians players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Omar Ali, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds. The match was Ali's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Anthony Apicella, who scored ten points along with six rebounds.
Even though they lost, Wayne Valley were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Wayne Valley now has a losing record at 3-4. As for West Morris Mendham, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wayne Valley will take on Passaic Valley at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Passaic Valley has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for West Morris Mendham, they will be playing in front of their home fans against West Morris Central at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in New Jersey (West Morris Central is ranked 122nd, while West Morris Mendham is ranked 98th).
