The Buckeye Hawks will head out on the road to face off against the Lake Havasu Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Buckeye will be strutting in after a win while Lake Havasu will be coming in after a defeat.
Buckeye had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They blew past St. Mary's 45-19. The victory was just what Buckeye needed coming off of a 49-28 defeat in their prior matchup.
Darius Haskin was his usual excellent self, picking up 275 receiving yards and five touchdowns. Haskin was no stranger to the big play, cutting upfield for a catch that went for 68 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Zachary Bennett, who threw for 148 yards and three touchdowns while completing 91.7% of his passes.
Meanwhile, Lake Havasu suffered a tough 41-17 defeat at the hands of Yuma Catholic on Friday. While losing is never fun, Lake Havasu can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona football rankings (they are ranked 96th, while Yuma Catholic is ranked 24th).
Buckeye's victory bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Lake Havasu, their loss dropped their record down to 3-6.
Buckeye strolled past Lake Havasu in their previous matchup back in September of 2022 by a score of 56-41. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Lake Havasu's Isaac Stopke, who rushed for 201 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 10.1 yards per carry, and also picked up 62 receiving yards.
