Baseball Game Preview: Tulpehocken Trojans vs. Hamburg Hawks

Tulpehocken hasn't had much luck against Hamburg recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Trojans will square off against the Hawks at 4:00 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Tulpehocken made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Pequea Valley, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Trojans blew past the Braves 19-7 on Friday. The Trojans' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Grant Gehman was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Tulpehocken's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-3 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Bowers, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

Tulpehocken always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .568. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pequea Valley only posted an OBP of .400.

Meanwhile, Hamburg got themselves on the board against Schuylkill Valley on Friday, but Schuylkill Valley never followed suit. They came out on top against the Panthers by a score of 7-0 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The result was nothing new for the Hawks, who have now won three contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Hamburg is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Tulpehocken, their record is now 5-3.

Tulpehocken suffered a grim 10-4 defeat to Hamburg when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Trojans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
