Softball Recap: Shelby County Wins Going Away Against Comer

It was a proper cat-fight when Shelby County took on Comer on Tuesday. The Wildcats were the clear victors by a 15-1 margin over the Tigers. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won five contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Aaliyah Chaisson (2026) made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single hit and allowed only one earned run while striking out eight over six innings pitched. Chaisson (2026) was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Danslen Connell (2029) was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Kloe Gallups (2026) was another key player, scoring three runs while going 3-for-4.

Shelby County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .578. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Comer only posted an OBP of .182.

Shelby County is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Comer, they dropped their record down to 3-13 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight at home.

Coming up, Shelby County will square off against Talladega at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Wildcats are facing the Tigers at the right time seeing as the Tigers are stuck on a ten-game losing streak. As for Comer, they will venture away from home to take on Thorsby at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Rebels will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something the Tigers surely won't give up without a fight.
