The Anthony Wildcats suffered their biggest loss since November 21, 2023 on Tuesday. They were beaten by Fort Hancock 62-29. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Anthony in their matchups with Fort Hancock: they've now lost nine in a row.
Despite the loss, Anthony still got an impressive performance from Julie Cuellar, who scored 23 points. That was a full 79.3% of Anthony's points, marking the 20th time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aissa Castillo, who scored six points.
Alessandra Jimenez continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Fort Hancock, dropping a triple-double on 28 points, 17 rebounds, and ten assists. That makes it six consecutive games in which Jimenez has scored at least a third of Fort Hancock's points. Jackeline Arriaga was another key contributor, scoring 19 points along with five rebounds and five steals.
Anthony's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-11. As for Fort Hancock, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 16-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Anthony will take on Wink at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Wink focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 on Tuesday. As for Fort Hancock, they will be playing in front of their home fans against McCamey at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. McCamey has now lost nine straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 1.
