The St. Croix Falls Saints will head out on the road to square off against the Spooner Rails at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (St. Croix Falls 3.9, Spooner 3) so any runs scored will be well earned.
St. Croix Falls came out on top against Chetek-Weyerhaeuser on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run fourth inning. The Saints were the clear victors by a 9-1 margin over the Bulldogs. The Saints might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matchups by eight runs or more this season.
Justin Wynne looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over four innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Caden Folkestad and Drake Peterson did most of the damage at the plate: Folkestad went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double, while Peterson went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Peterson has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Carson Marks, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Spooner came tearing into Thursday's game with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.6 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Hurricanes 5-3. Five seems to be a good number for the Rails as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.
The team relied heavily on Ben Eichten, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That double was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Shamari Fahie, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.
Spooner's record now sits at 6-1. As for St. Croix Falls, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 5-5 record.
Everything went St. Croix Falls' way against Spooner in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as St. Croix Falls made off with a 9-3 victory. Will the Saints repeat their success, or do the Rails have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
