Even though Haysville Campus has not done well against Andover recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Haysville Campus came out on top against Andover by a score of 71-61.
Haysville Campus had a senior duo take command as Andrell Burton, Jr dropped a double-double on 25 points and 12 rebounds and Kaason Thomas scored 24 points along with 7 rebounds. Jacob Webber was another key contributor, scoring 9 points along with 6 assists.
Meanwhile, Andover Central couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They took a 75-60 bruising from Maize South on Thursday. Andover Central has struggled against Maize South recently, as their matchup on Thursday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Jayden Brown put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 25 points along with 3 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Cole Newfarmer, who scored 7 points along with 6 rebounds and 3 steals.
Haysville Campus' win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Andover Central, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.
