The Kamiakin Braves had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 35 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They came out on top against Richland by a score of 42-35. 42 seems to be a good number for Kamiakin as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.
Kamiakin was led to victory by Michael Kori and Camden Schmidt. Kori threw for 312 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 11.1 yards per attempt, while Schmidt rushed for 266 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 10.2 yards per carry. Kori's longest reception was for an incredible 72 yards. Easton Murphy did his part for the team as well, scoring a TD off of 42 receiving yards.
Richland's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Joshua Woodard, who threw for 384 yards and five touchdowns, and Colson Mackey who picked up 156 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Woodard hasn't dropped below three passing touchdowns for four straight games. Brody Bocek did his part for the team as well, scoring a TD off of 46 receiving yards.
Kamiakin's win was their eighth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which bumped their overall record up to 7-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 39.3 points per game. As for Richland, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-4.
Kamiakin will be playing in front of their home fans against Pasco at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Pasco will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Washington Rankings (they are ranked 201st, while Kamiakin is ranked 30th). As for Richland, they will head out on the road to face off against Mountain View at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Mountain View has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 306 points over their last seven contests.
