Softball Recap: Thursday's Defeat Ends Booneville's Winning Streak

Booneville dropped their record down to 12-7 on Thursday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Mansfield Tigers by a score of 8-7. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bearcats of the 8-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

As for Mansfield, their record is now 10-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory they have posted since March 17th.

For Mansfield's part, Bailey Quick made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. Quick has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Daisy Nelson, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI and one double. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Miley Clopton, who went 1-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Coming up, Booneville will square off against Mena at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Mansfield, they will challenge Dover at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
