The Jordan-Elbridge Eagles will face off against the Chittenango Bears at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The last three games Jordan-Elbridge has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
On Saturday, Jordan-Elbridge narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Cazenovia 3-2. That's two games straight that the Eagles have won by just one run.
David III Dominick spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up seven Ks.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Chittenango, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They came out on top against Canastota by a score of 7-2 on Thursday. The Bears haven't had any issues with the Red Raiders recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Alex Pappas looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Zailor Caras and Mason Corlis did most of the damage at the plate: Caras went 3-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Corlis got on base in two of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. Those three hits gave Caras a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Elijah Lefort, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Jordan-Elbridge has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Chittenango, the win got them back to even at 6-6.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Jordan-Elbridge has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Chittenango struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Jordan-Elbridge came out on top in a nail-biter against Chittenango when the teams last played back in May of 2019, sneaking past 2-1. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Bears have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
