It was a good run, but the Athens Wildcats unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell just short of Wellsboro by a score of 49-46. Athens has not had much luck with Wellsboro recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Despite the loss, Athens still got an impressive performance from Connor Mosher, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Mosher hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. Another player making a difference was Troy Rosenbloom, who scored six points along with two steals.
Athens' defeat dropped their record down to 11-6. As for Wellsboro, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season.
Athens will head out on the road to challenge Wyalusing Valley at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Wyalusing Valley has now lost 11 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 6. As for Wellsboro, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Towanda at 7:30 p.m. Towanda is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak.
