The Hilltop Cadets fell victim to the Montpelier Locomotives''s stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were beaten by the Locomotives 56-0. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Hilltop in their matchups with Montpelier: they've now lost six in a row.
Hayden Sharps looked great while leading his team to the win, rushing for 41 yards and two touchdowns, while also throwing for 168 yards and a touchdown. Kam Smith got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Hilltop's defeat dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Montpelier, their victory was their fifth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 7-3.
Hilltop does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Montpelier will head out on the road to face off against Hopewell-Loudon at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopewell-Loudon is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
