Basketball Recap: Jacksonville Christian Academy Takes a Loss

After soaring to 56 points the game before, Jacksonville Christian Academy was a bit more limited in their matchup on Tuesday. They had to suffer through a 67-26 loss at the hands of the Hilltop Christian Chargers. While losing is never fun, the Conquerors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 616th, while the Chargers are ranked 134th).

Despite the loss, Jacksonville Christian Academy still got an impressive performance from Kellen Evans, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten boards. Evans has been hot, having posted eight or more boards the last eight times he's played.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Hilltop Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Caleb Manriquez, who went 6 of 15 on his way to 15 points in addition to seven boards and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Philip Joyner, who posted 15 points.

Jacksonville Christian Academy has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season. As for Hilltop Christian, their win was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-3.

Jacksonville Christian Academy will face off against Jones at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Jacksonville Christian Academy is facing Jones at the right time seeing as Jones is stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for Hilltop Christian, they will challenge Wilson Christian Academy at 7:45 p.m. on Thursday. Hilltop Christian has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
