The Snow Canyon Warriors fought the good fight in their overtime game against the Cottonwood Colts on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 59-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Colts. Snow Canyon's loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Several Warriors players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Owen Iloa, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds. Iloa continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Reggie Mackay was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with three steals.
Even though they lost, Snow Canyon were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Cottonwood was led to victory by Luke Park and John Rosevear. Park scored 14 points along with seven assists and six rebounds, while Rosevear scored 17 points. The match was Rosevear's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Mason Tolley, who scored seven points along with three steals.
Snow Canyon's loss dropped their record down to 3-1. As for Cottonwood, their win bumped their record up to 5-3.
Snow Canyon won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Maple Mountain at 5:00 p.m. on December 15th. Maple Mountain is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak. Cottonwood will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Ridgeline at 6:30 p.m. on December 15th. Ridgeline is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 66 points per game.
