The Lincolnton Wolves struggled with assists on Friday (the Forestview Jaguars had 12 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Lincolnton was the victim of a tough 76-52 defeat at the hands of Forestview. Lincolnton has struggled against Forestview recently, as their contest on Friday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Lincolnton still got an impressive performance from Nyla Johnson, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Those 14 points set a new season-high mark for her. Akira Connor was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with nine rebounds.
Tralyn Phillips continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Forestview, scoring 31 points along with six assists and six steals. Phillips is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Amani Neely, who scored 22 points along with three blocks.
Lincolnton's loss dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Forestview, their win bumped their record up to 8-4.
Lincolnton and Newton-Conover will face off at 6:15 p.m. on January 5, 2024 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Newton-Conover is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses. Forestview will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on North Gaston at 6:00 p.m. on January 9, 2024. North Gaston has now lost nine straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 29.
