The Miami Vandals will head out on the road to challenge the Duncan Wildkats at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
As a matter of fact, Miami put up the most runs they have all season on Friday. Everything went their way against Gilbert Classical Academy as they made off with an 18-1 victory. The Vandals haven't had any issues with the Spartans recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Tessa Roberts and Natalie Ortiz were major factors no matter where they played. Throwing, Roberts tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Ortiz tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Roberts has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. At the plate, Roberts went 3-for-4 with two triples, two runs, and two RBI, while Ortiz went 4-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. The dominant performance also gave Ortiz a new career-high in doubles (two).
In other batting news, Sara Beth Hopkins was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Alexcia Scoggins was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.
Miami always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .590. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Duncan, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. They blew past Valley Union 21-10 on Wednesday. The Wildkats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by ten runs or more this season.
Miami now has a winning record of 6-5-1. As for Duncan, they now have a winning record of 7-6.
Miami got the 'W' when the teams last played back in April of 2025 against Duncan by a conclusive 16-3 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Vandals since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
