The Crystal River Pirates''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their sixth straight loss. The contest between Crystal River and Hernando wasn't particularly close, with Crystal River falling 31-13. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Crystal River in their matchups with Hernando: they've now lost three in a row.
John Capel iii was a one-man wrecking crew for Hernando as he rushed for 251 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 12.0 yards per carry, and also caught a touchdown. Capel iii was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 57 yards.
Hernando's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB ten times. It was a group effort, with three picking up two apiece.
Crystal River's defeat was their seventh straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 2-7. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 7.6 points per game. As for Hernando, their victory bumped their record up to 3-6.
Crystal River does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Hernando will be playing in front of their home fans against Weeki Wachee at 7:30 p.m. on November 3rd.
