You're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for Bishop Amat. They blew past Loyola 38-10 on Friday. That result was just more of the same for Bishop Amat, who also won the last time these teams played (Oct. 19).
Bishop Amat's offense rushed out of the gates and came up with 28 first-half points. Loyola wasn't quite able to keep up, scoring 10 to make it 28-10 heading into the break. The Bishop Amat defense was impenetrable in the third quarter, shutting them out and essentially clinching the game.
The win was the seventh in a row for the Lancers and raised their record to 9-1. Loyola's defeat makes it three in a row and drags their record down to 3-6.
Bishop Amat will have some time to savor their victory since their next contest is a little ways off; they will square off against Mater Dei at 7:30 p.m. ET in two weeks. Coming off of a win even when the odds were against them, Bishop Amat has to be feeling especially confident with the MaxPreps rankings on their side for this one. Loyola will take on Palos Verdes at 7:30 p.m. ET on Friday at home.
