The Fairview Knights's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fifth straight loss. They took a 45-29 bruising from Erie. While losing is never fun, Fairview can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 161st, while the Tigers are ranked 36th).
Fairview lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Remy Tolar, who scored seven points along with 12 rebounds. Tolar hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for ten straight games. Another player making a difference was Chloe Hickory, who scored four points along with three steals.
Fairview struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only an offensive rebound. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Erie got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Maddie Hartel out in front who scored 11 points along with three steals. Juliet Slater was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Fairview has been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season. As for Erie, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 13-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fairview and the Red Wolves will face off at 6:30 p.m. on February 6th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Loveland focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Saturday. As for Erie, they and the Panthers will face off at 6:30 p.m. on February 6th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
