The Wallkill Panthers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Goshen Central Gladiators at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Last Friday, Wallkill was beaten by Washingtonville 57-25. Wallkill was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 44-14.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Aiden Kozireski, who picked up 95 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Kent Glasgow, who rushed for 67 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 35 points the game before, Goshen Central were a bit more limited in their matchup on Friday. They had to suffer through a rough 57-7 loss at the hands of Cornwall Central. While losing is never fun, Goshen Central can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York football rankings (they are ranked 269th, while Cornwall Central is ranked 51st).
The losses dropped Wallkill to 3-5 and Goshen Central to 2-6.
Wallkill didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Goshen Central in their previous meeting back in September of 2021, but they still walked away with a 28-24 victory. Does Wallkill have another victory up their sleeve, or will Goshen Central turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
