The Woodlake Tigers will head out on the road to face off against the Strathmore Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Woodlake walked away with it. They put the hurt on Minarets with a sharp 28-6 victory on Friday. The victory was nothing new for Woodlake as they're now sitting on four straight.
It was another big night for Isaiah Taylor, who rushed for 215 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.4 yards per carry.
Another reason for the win was Woodlake's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. Leading the way was Fernando Hernandez and his two sacks.
Meanwhile, Strathmore took their match at home on Friday with ease, bagging a 49-14 victory over Kern Valley. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Strathmore.
Jacob Poole continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 185 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 9.7 yards per carry. Gerardo Ruiz was in the mix too, providing Strathmore with three touchdowns.
Woodlake is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season. As for Strathmore, their win bumped their record up to 7-4.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Thursday's contest: Woodlake has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 177.7 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Strathmore struggles in that department as they've been even better at 180.4 per game. It's looking like Thursday's game might have some serious battles in the trenches.
